Video: 2019 Sporting Chance Forum: Child Rights in Sport

The Sporting Chance Forum 2019 (SCF 2019) was convened on 21-22 November at the United Nations (UN) Palais des Nations in Geneva during the week that commemorated the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). SCF 2019 continued the process begun in 2016 of building bridges between the worlds of sport and human rights, and supported the aims of the Centre for Sport and Human Rights

International Charter of Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport [UNESCO]

The International Charter of Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport  is a rights-based reference that orients and supports policy- and decision-making in sport.

Adopted in 1978, the original Charter was perceived as innovative at the time - as it was the first rights-based document to state that “the practice of physical education and sport is a fundamental right for all”.

[International] Safeguarding the Rights of Children in Sports on World Children’s Day

Children face violence and abuse everyday; every fourth girl in Jamaica and every fifth girl in Europe has been a victim of sexual harassment. Unfortunately, sport is one of the most common areas where violence against and abuse of children takes place.

Mapping of good practices relating to social inclusion of migrants through sport [European Union]

The aim of this study is to provide an analytical overview of the types of sports related projects and interventions used to support the social inclusion of migrants and to identify best practice in their design, implementation and measurement. The study used a literature review, stakeholder interviews and an analysis of the key strengths and success factors of relevant projects based on a typology.

International Safeguards for Children in Sport

This document details eight safeguards that should be put in place by any organisation providing sports activities to children and young people. Reflecting international legal and child protection standards and good practice, these Safeguards have been informed by research conducted by Brunel University with a diverse range of perspectives from different countries and have been piloted by organisations all over the world.

Podcast: Parental involvement in sport - audio series [NSPCC]

The NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) has launched a series of podcasts to share safeguarding guidance and best practice. The first 2 episodes have been released as part of Parents in Sport Week 2018, featuring sports parents and discussing how they contribute to their child's sport, the needs children of different age have related to sport, we well as how sport clubs can work with parents to provide them relevant information and support.
