#SportWorksTALKS: “Child safeguarding in football” – Iris Hugo-Bouvier & Fanny Bellier

SportWorksTALKS

Football is the most popular participation sport in the world for kids— and for good reason. It’s fun and a great opportunity for children to make new friends, develop their technique, and learn valuable qualities such as fair play, teamwork, and commitment. Unfortunately, unsafe sports settings can put children at risk of neglect, physical, emotional and even sexual abuse.

UEFA and the Terre des hommes have joined forces on a child safeguarding project which includes a new policy, a child safeguarding toolkit, and a digital platform. This new set of resources underscore UEFA’s commitment to ensuring football is always a safe, positive and enjoyable experience.

UEFA’s Iris Hugo-Bouvier and Terre des hommes' Fanny Bellier join #SportWorksTALKS to share what their organizations are doing to promote child safeguarding in football. They discuss the situations which can put children at risk in sports, particularly football, and the strategic tools they have developed to mitigate these issues. It’s a tough but necessary conversation.
